IT DOESN’T TAKE A SUPERSTAR SERIES
Have Many “Likes” Did I Get Today?

Can you believe we are still jammin’ on this series, “It Doesn’t Take Super Star?!” I’m lovin’ it! Superstars seem to have it all, especially when you go to their Instagram and Facebook pages. The “Likes” tell it all, right? If they have 1M likes, it must be worthy of attention. If they have 1M followers, they must really be somebody. I was never too concerned about how many likes my pictures received until I started Dream Again. After all, the “likes” and “followers” will tell you if your post was “good enough,” (so they say).
A few months ago, I found myself waking up not to be thankful, not to talk to God, not to start my day with a positive attitude, but, instead, rushing to get to my phone to see how many viewed my video. It was this particular week the numbers were significantly lower than the week before. Immediately, I got discouraged, thinking, “The world isn’t responding how I desire, so maybe what I’m saying isn’t resonating. Maybe I should change. Maybe I’m not good enough. Maybe… “
I sat in that moment for a few minutes and immediately shook myself out of it. I said to myself in the mirror, “One thousand people can view your story and not be changed, but YOUR mission is to change one person’s perspective, to touch one heart. One thousand people can forget a post within seconds, but you have the potential to impact and inspire the heart of one forever. That’s what is important.” For more, find our blog here.

Challenge

Post messages on social media with the intention to make a difference and not to gain hundreds of “likes”. The one person who liked your post opened his/her heart to the wisdom you shared. Get into the habit of impacting and inspiring, and remember, your worth is not determined by the “likes.”

DAILY DEVOTIONS

Day 1

Scripture “Do not be deceived: Bad company corrupts good morals.” I Corinthians 15:33 (Amplified)

Wise Nuggets Did you know this scripture can apply to social media? It is our job to influence the world and not the other way around. When you allow your actions to be influenced by those who have no relationship with Christ, you risk acting and doing things completely opposite of His character, leading to some pretty tough consequences ahead. We must set the pace and not be set by the pace of others.

Day 2

Scripture “The man of too many friends [chosen indiscriminately] will be broken in pieces and come to ruin, But there is a [true, loving] friend who [is reliable and] sticks closer than a brother.” Proverbs 18:24 (Amplified)

Wise Nuggets Although this scripture talks about friendship, it puts so much emphasis on the “one” versus the “many.” Treasure and cherish the few God has assigned to you.

Day 3

Scripture And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you].” Romans 12:2 (Amplified)

Wise Nuggets There is true satisfaction in being true to who we are. We stand like a treated planted by the rivers of water- we will not be moved. Let’s learn to renew our minds daily to remind ourselves that we have stability in Christ whose opinion of us never changes even when the opinions of others might.

Day 4

Scripture You adulteresses [disloyal sinners—flirting with the world and breaking your vow to God]! Do you not know that being the world’s friend [that is, loving the things of the world] is being God’s enemy? So whoever chooses to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.” James 4:4 (Amplified)

Wise Nuggets It is important to realize that when you stand for Christ, it will be impossible to please everyone. As a matter of fact, you might lose a few friends. Be strong. Those who gravitate toward your dream will be dramatically changed by your stance in Him.

Day 5

Scripture And He answered, “Why did you have to look for Me? Did you not know that I had to be in My Father’s house?” Luke 2:49 (Amplified)

Wise Nuggets Jesus healed the sick, raised the dead, accepted the unwanted and befriended the lost. Thousands were made whole by His ministry. He didn’t compromise. He lived His life knowing He had a work to do for God. His purpose was more important than popularity.
